Samsung Galaxy Pocket is a latest pocket friendly device recently added to the Samsung android phone family. It is light as feather with compact design which provide a light feeling in hands. So to check its pocket friendly value, lets find out in the review.
HARDWARE
Samsung Galaxy Pocket has a compact curved edge design which fit in your palm and gives you a premium feel. It has a plastic body which feels good to hold and gives a good look. The 2.8-inch full touchscreen display with capacitive menu, back and home buttons. The devisamsung-galaxy-pocketce is also equipped with a 2 MP camera with the speakers at the back panel. The Micro USB port is mounted at the top of the device which allows both battery charging and data transfer with a 3.5mm audio jack beside it. At the right side, there’s a volume rocker and a power button at the left side.
DISPLAY
Galaxy Pocket has a 2.8-inch TFT display with a resolution of 320x240p. The 2 MP camera clicks great quality images and the display seems dull in low light condition than in daylight. It does not have a front facing camera.
SOFTWARE/ INTERFACE
The Galaxy Pocket is a pocket friendly smartphone which operates on Android 2.3 interfaced with a 832MHz processor. The device has a three customizable home screens and offers a smooth multitasking option. It has Samsung’s new app i.e. Touch Wiz UI which makes the capacitive screen respond more smoothly and quickly. The device comes with 3GB internal storage capacity which provides a large storage space for apps, photos, music, and videos and other documents and the storage can be expanded up to 32GB external storage via microSD card slot.
The device has Samsung app store which provide the user with ease in downloading and use of app from a large list of apps provided by Samsung itself. Google Play Store and Polaris Viewer are some apps provided to manage media and documents and a social hub app that manages the social networks and makes communication through messages and emails easy.
PERFORMANCE/ BATTERY LIFE
The Samsung Galaxy Pocket has a 1200mAh battery which provide a good backup. The speakers do not deliver good sound quality but the headphone works great in enhancing the sound quality and the 5.1 sound option offers a crystal clear audio quality only in headphone mode. The FM also works good and you can listen to any available frequency.
The Wi-Fi and the web browsing options on the device works properly and the apps downloaded from Samsung apps store works smoothly without any lags and crashes. The YouTube videos play smoothly with slight pixilation. Some apps like DJ Master Mix, Angry Birds, 8bit Ninja, and the games from EA Sports and Game loft gives a simple, lag-free and great experience.
The device is equipped with full QWERTY keyboard interfaced on 2.8-inch screen. The screen keyboard provide a little difficulty to those users who are not blessed with tiny fingers but a little easy in landscape mode.
VERDICT
The Samsung Galaxy Pocket can be worth if you are new to Android phones because it has a basic interface and features and the device is very responsive with no lags. The device costs Rs 8,150, which is a decent investment for this device.
